Welcome to the virtual Solar Power HourSM, your guide to investing in a solar photovoltaic (PV) system for your home or business. The modules on this tool will cover the following:
- Module 1: Trends in Solar PV
- Module 2: Solar Basics
- Module 3: Site Assessment
- Module 4: Affordability of Solar PV
- Module 5: Power Pack Partners
- Module 6: Ready for Solar?
The modules feature brief videos with supplemental information. Click through the modules to get a basic understanding of the process of installing solar, and the next steps you can take. While this tool covers the basics, nothing beats the face-to-face Solar Power HourSM we hold all over the Midwest.
Who we are:
The Power Pack is an innovative, community-based solar market development program first implemented in Milwaukee, WI, as part of the U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Program. Through this program, the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) works in target communities to provide education and resources that simplify the process of installing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on homes, businesses, and municipal buildings; helping them to lower their electric bills, gain long-term energy security, support local economic development, and reduce their dependency on polluting fossil fuels.
The Midwest Renewable Energy Association was founded by a group of people looking through a Home Power magazine when they came across an article that challenge individuals to take action on sustainable living and renewable energy. So they did. 2016 will mark our 27th Annual Energy Fair.
We are an educational institution offering courses in solar PV, solar thermal, and wind. We also engage in community outreach events such as sustainability fairs and programs such as the Power Pack that encompasses the Solar Power HourSM you are attending.
We consistently partner with other professionals in the renewable energy field and community colleges that have renewable energy tracks as well as community colleges that support sustainability.
