SOLARIZE EAST CENTRAL IL IS A GROUP PURCHASING PROGRAM
FOR RESIDENTIAL SOLAR.
Offered by Lake Land College, Coles Progressives, Effingham Recycles, Charleston Huddle, Effingham Chamber of Commerce, City of Charleston, and Midwest Renewable Energy Association, homeowners throughout Lake Land College District may participate in this program to help pool their buying power to secure significant discounts that make installing solar more affordable.
Start by attending a Solar Power Hour. Our free information session teaches you the basics of solar, its financial implications for your property, and how the Solarize East Central IL program works. Then, get a free, no obligation site assessment from our competitively-selected installer, Tick Tock Energy. You have until September 30, 2019 to decide whether to get solar through the program. The Solar Power Hour calendar and program updates will be posted on this page on an ongoing basis.
UPDATE 11/7/19: The program has come to an end with 245.93 kW of solar going on 28 properties. Having surpassed our second goal of 150 kW, everyone going solar through the program will save $.04/W on their array, or $352 on the average 8.8 kW system.
In their first year of operation, the solar arrays installed through this program will produce 303,179 kWh of electricity, and offset emissions equivalent to 234,380 lbs of coal burned. They will also save an estimated $30,935 in electric bills in that same period of time.
UPDATE 8/1/19: We have surpassed our first benchmark of 50 kilowatts (kW) of solar capacity! Reaching this collective goal means the price has dropped for all participants by $20 per kilowatt, or an average of $176 per property (the average system size so far is 8.8kW). The next price break is at 150kw.
