Rural Renewable Energy Alliance (RREAL) recently launched Plug into Array of Sun, an adopt-a-module campaign. In early March, RREAL completed the construction of a second solar array at its new office building in Backus, Minnesota. Over 15 volunteers helped put the arrays in place, but RREAL still needs to get the systems wired.
Plug into Array of Sun is a bit of a twist on the Buy-a-Brick fundraising model, except with solar panels instead. RREAL is making all the modules (148 total) available for sponsorship, and proceeds will help connect the systems to the grid to power its workplace and reduce its carbon footprint. Once installed, the energy savings (~8400 kilowatt hours annually) will help strengthen RREAL’s capacity to continue its mission and help more households out of energy poverty with solar energy.
