Thank you for for helping Urbana-Champaign go Solar!

As a grassroots program we rely on community members, friends, and colleagues to help promote the Solar Urbana-Champaign group buy program to communities all around the area. Please invite your family, friends, and neighbors to help build awareness about solar energy and invest in a clean energy future! Grassroots promotion by municipalities, organizations and community members is the most effective way of getting the word out and ensuring the program’s success. Use these resources to easily share the program with your audience, family and friends.

About the Program

The Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) is returning its award-winning solar group purchasing program to Urbana-Champaign for the eighth year! Home and business owners in the area have an opportunity to take advantage of low solar pricing through the limited-time group buy program. Solar Urbana-Champaign helps residents invest in lower cost solar installations for their homes and businesses through the power of volume-purchasing. Learn more at a FREE one-hour Solar Power Hour information session. Solar Power Hours educate homeowners, commercial property owners, and communities on the basics of solar, its financial implications, available incentives, and how the group purchasing program works.

Other ways to get involved

Become a Power Hour Co-Host

Expectations:

The role of a co-host would be for you and/or a colleague to represent your organization for one of our virtual Power Hour webinars and share the program content on your organization’s social media platforms, e-news, newsletters and/or within your networks for the webinar you decide to co-host.
We welcome our co-hosts to attend the Power Hour they choose and give them a few moments to share who they are, why they are supporting the Grow Solar program, and any of their own program updates, events, etc. to the attendees. We ask our co-hosts to try to keep it around five minutes.
In exchange, Grow Solar will provide:
  • Clickable logo on Grow Solar program website (please send at your earliest convenience)
  • Social media highlight on Grow Solar program Facebook page
  • Create and provide print materials to be shared with your organization’s network (if applicable – please ask if interested)

Become a Power Hour Venue

Expectations:

A good venue location has (but is not limited to) the following qualities: has a private space so attendees can hear, and has enough seating for an average attendance of 15-30 individuals. Visual capabilities like a projector, computer, and a screen are also desirable; however, the MREA can provide local presenters with these materials as needed.

Local community spaces (libraries, education centers, houses of worship, art galleries, senior centers, coffee shops, restaurants, bookstores, bars, art galleries) are great places to serve as Power Hour venues. The great thing is that this is your town, your area! You know better than us what options are out there in your neighborhood. If you think your venue is a great fit, chances are others will too and will turn out!
