Solar Urbana-Champaign 2023 has come to a close

Solar Urbana Champaign is returning for its EIGHTH group buy program in fall of 2023! Through this program, home and business owners throughout Champaign, Piatt, and Vermilion Counties can learn about solar and pool their buying power to secure significant discounts that make installing solar more affordable.

The program is offered by the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA), the cities of Urbana, Monticello, and Champaign, the Citizens Utility Board (CUB), Champaign County Sustainability Network (CCNet), the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Facilities & Services (UIUC F&S), and Smart Energy Design Assistance Center (SEDAC) and other local partners.

Start by attending one of our free, virtual Solar Power Hours. In this hour-long presentation you’ll learn the basics of solar, how it can save you money, and how the solar group buy program works. These events are being scheduled for our 2023 program: once finalized, you can view and register for any Solar Power Hour by clicking on the date of your choice below.

Afterward, you will be able to sign up for a free, no obligation site assessment and quote with this program’s competitively selected solar installer, Sangamon Solar.

Solar Power Hours

Grow Solar’s “Solar Power Hours” are informational presentations that are free and open to the public. Our presenters and installer representatives explain the basics of how solar works, what makes a site a good fit for solar panels, and what incentives and financing options are available. Finally, we’ll explain how our group buying program includes an additional rebate to help you go solar for less.

One Program, Big Impact

2023 marks the eigth year for the Solar Urbana-Champaign program. Since 2016, the environmental impact has been huge. Each year, the PV systems installed through this program will singlehandedly avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 4,190,413 lbs. of CO2. So, thank you to you for making this program successful year after year and for helping to keep our part of the state beautiful, clean, and healthy.
